Seloo
Private, real-time location sharing for small groups.
A mobile app for Android and iOS.
What Seloo does
Seloo lets a small group of people — family, friends travelling together, a
few colleagues on the move — see each other's live position on a shared map.
A group is called a Circle. A Circle holds up to five people,
is joined only by invite code, and is visible only to its own members. There is
no public directory, no friend suggestions, and no way to look up a person who
has not invited you.
Features
Live map
Every member of a Circle appears on one map, updating as they move.
Sharing you control, per Circle
Location sharing is switched on and off separately for each Circle — you can
share with your family and not with a work group at the same time. Switching
it off deletes your position from our servers immediately.
Temporary Circles
A Circle can be permanent, or set to expire on a date you choose — useful for
a trip or an event, after which it archives itself.
Shared map pins
Any member can drop a named pin on the Circle's map — a meeting point, a
hotel, where the car is parked — and everyone sees it straight away.
Sign in with Google or Apple
There is no Seloo password to create, forget, or have stolen. We never
receive one.
How we treat your location
Location data is the whole point of the app and also the most sensitive thing
we touch, so the design is deliberately narrow:
- No location history. We store your current position, not
a trail. There is no past to look back through, for us or for anyone else.
- Short retention. A position is held for at most 12 hours
and is deleted the moment you turn sharing off.
- Visible only inside your Circle. Not to other users, not
to advertisers, not to us.
- Never sold, never given to advertisers. The free tier
shows banner ads, and your GPS coordinates are not part of what the ad
provider receives.
- Deletable. You can delete your account from inside the
app, or ask us to, and your data goes with it.
The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Our servers are operated by Hetzner Online GmbH and located in Finland,
within the European Union.
Seloo is not an emergency or safety service. It is not
designed for, and must not be relied on for, personal safety, monitoring
someone without their knowledge, or any emergency. In an emergency, contact
your local emergency services. Everyone in a Circle can see that they are
sharing, and can stop at any time.
Requirements
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Seloo.
- A Google or Apple account to sign in with.
- Android or iOS. Background location updates need the relevant permission;
the app explains what it is asking for and why before requesting it.
